We represent employees at the Fair Work Commission, never employers. If you want genuine advocacy experience in unfair dismissal and general protections matters, we regularly take on casual Industrial Relations Consultants, and we would like to hear from you.
The role
As an Industrial Relations Consultant you work on unfair dismissal and general protections matters from the first client conversation through to conciliation and hearing at the Fair Work Commission. You prepare applications and submissions, speak with clients about what happened to them, and appear at the Commission with support and supervision from experienced consultants. It is hands on from an early stage.
Who we look for
- Law students, recent graduates, or others with a real interest in workplace and employment matters
- Clear, plain writing, and a calm, steady manner on the phone, because you speak with people who have just lost their job
- Organised and reliable, comfortable running your own matters to deadlines, since the Fair Work Commission works to strict timeframes
- Available on a casual basis
Why it is worth it
- Real advocacy experience early, representing employees at the Fair Work Commission rather than just observing
- A small, focused team that acts for employees only, never employers
- A Melbourne CBD office at Level 19, 180 Lonsdale Street
How to apply
Send your CV and a short cover note, telling us why this interests you, to admin@unfairdismissalexperts.com.au. We welcome expressions of interest at any time, and get in touch when a suitable casual role opens.
