Unfair Dismissal Experts

Privacy policy

What this policy covers

This policy explains how Unfair Dismissal Experts Pty Ltd (ABN 71 616 598 906) handles personal information: what we collect, why we collect it, who it is disclosed to, and how you can ask about the information we hold about you. We handle personal information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

We are paid agents, not lawyers, and we are not a law practice. Information you give us is not protected by the privilege that applies between a law practice and its client.

Who we are

Unfair Dismissal Experts Pty Ltd is a paid agent that represents employees in matters before the Fair Work Commission. Our head office is Level 19, 180 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000. You can reach us on 1800 863 247 or at team@unfairdismissalexperts.com.au.

What we collect

Through the enquiry form on this site: your state or territory, your mobile number, and your description of what happened. Your IP address is also recorded, to limit automated misuse of the form, and is passed along with your enquiry.

When you call, text or email us: your contact details and whatever you choose to tell us about your employment and your dismissal.

If you engage us to act for you: the information needed to run your matter, such as your employment records, correspondence with your employer, and the details that go into an application to the Fair Work Commission.

When you browse this site: technical usage data collected by the analytics tags described below.

Why we collect it

We collect personal information to respond to your enquiry, to work out whether you may have a claim, to provide our service if you engage us, to contact you by phone or SMS about your enquiry or your matter, and to keep the business records we are required to keep.

Who it is disclosed to

Our own systems. An enquiry submitted through this site is stored in our client management system and our team is notified by SMS so we can call you back. If that system is temporarily unavailable, your enquiry is emailed to our team instead so it is not lost.

Service providers. We use third-party providers to operate this site and handle enquiries: a website host (Vercel), an SMS provider (Twilio), an email provider (Resend), and Google for the analytics and advertising tags described below. Some of these providers process or store data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States.

In the course of your matter. If we act for you, information relevant to your claim is provided to the Fair Work Commission and to your former employer or its representatives, because that is how a claim is run. We discuss this with you before it happens.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it to anyone else except where the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads tags. They set cookies to measure how the site is used and how people find us, including when a call is placed from a link on the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalised advertising through your Google account's ad settings.

Storage, security and retention

Information you submit through this site travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access.

Records of enquiries and matters stay in our client management system indefinitely, unless you ask us to delete them. You can ask at any time using the contact details below, and we will delete what we are not required to keep.

Phone calls

Calls to 1800 863 247 are not recorded. What you tell us on a call is noted by the person you speak to, and those notes are handled in the same way as the rest of the personal information described in this policy.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date. Email team@unfairdismissalexperts.com.au or call 1800 863 247.

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, raise it with us first and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
